Talking to Adam - Part Two.

After lying in my bed until 3am, I have finally finished my novel Talking to Adam. The first novel I fell in love with as a teenager, and realized that reading can be fun.

The second half of the novel, brings out the best and the worst of the two main characters, Katie & Adam. Together, they grow up emotionally and realize that sometimes there is no going back. Feelings begin to flow, friendship, love, anger & fear. The emotions portrayed throughout the second half of the novel, make me tear up & in someways makes me think about how fortunate I am in my life.

What makes you happy? What happens after you die? Will anyone miss you?

" So your not afraid to die?"
"Yes! Of course I am!"
"Do you believe in an afterlife?"

"They say that energy can neither be created or destroyed. And being alive
is just a form of energy. .....When you die, it just stops?"

A novel, that even after 6 or so years, still pulls on my heart strings & brings a tear to my eye. A real eye opener when it comes to the sometimes cruel realities of the world.

I would still give this book Five Stars.

Happy reading. :)

My 'First' Book.

Im calling this my 'First' book, because it was the book that made me realise reading can and is fun!

The book selection throughout high school were always the classics, dont get me wrong, I can apprechiate a classic novel. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the dramas that unfolded in the Jane Austin's novels, however, the difference between the novels my crazy-symbol-disecting teacher chose and Talking to Adam, was that I picked this book!

This book is filled with 'First' time moments, not only did it teach me to love reading, but it was the first book to make me cry & is currently the first book I am reading for a second time. It has been six years since I read this book, since leaving highschool in '08 I have been searching high & low for this book (which went out of print in '09) & therefore is in no book store, or on you famous Book Depository website either. After giving up for a while I was given the name of a website that searches second-hand book stores, I was so excited to receive the email saying they had found the book, the catch, it was $85!!!

I mean, I loved the book, but couldnt justify that kind of money for a teenage novel, with huge print & less than 300 pages. After closing the email, I randomly searched ebay for the thousandth time & there it was - Talking to Adam for $10 & free delivery, if that isnt fate I dont know what is.

THE BLURB:

"Everything is slotting into place for Katie. Then suddenly her world falls apart.
No one can help, no one can understand until...
she meets the stranger with the compelling green eyes, manky dreads,
and 1,000-watt grin...until Katie starts talking to Adam."

Currenly half way through reading the novel & I am enjoying reading it for a second time, there are parts I remember of course, but I love that im still being surprised with the turn of every page. The writing style is very simple, but effective, when it isnt Katie talking, there are her a few of her diary entries. The novel is bringing me back to a time when I was younger, when us girls had a crush on a guy & worried what he thought about us. Ahh the thrill of being young, when the smaller things seemed so important.

Im looking forward to tucking myself into bed to continue reading my novel, Ill keep you updated of course. Until then, happy reading!

A new year.

The new year is upon us.

Thinking back 2011 was an awesome year. I have discovered so many things about myself and gained so many new experiences.

I met my wonderful boyfriend on nye (best midnight hookup ever!) tomorrow will mark one year of meeting each other. He has helped me through so much changing jobs was a huge step for me & his support meant a lot when I started to doubt myself. We enjoyed nights away to the Barossa Valley together, some lovely dinner dates together at some of Adelaide's nicest Fine Dining restaurants & recently shared Christmas with each others families. Tomorrow will mark exactly a year from when we met and I am so looking forward to the year ahead.

I changed jobs. Mid this year I left my job of two and a half years for a new and exciting experience. I also found this to be one of the biggest and scariest things I have done since I left high school without knowing what I wanted to do with my life. Leaving the security of a full time job and having nothing to go to, was a huge gamble & a scary time for me. However, I was fortunate to be offered the most amazing job (the job I thought I would never get) within three days of quitting. I have learnt so many things since taking the job and feel like I have grown up so much since moving to Adelaide's Best Restaurant - Penfolds Magill Estate!!

I cant wait to see what 2012 has install for me...what are you hoping to get from 2012?

Happy New Year Everyone!!

A Fresh Start...

When i was younger and we moved into our new house (we're talking 10yrs ago!) my parents said i could paint my room any colour i wanted. So when it came time to choose a colour, i went for bright Yellow. So as blinding as my bright yellow walls prove to be in sunlight, i figured it was finally time for a change. I have picked a new colour....white! And as simple as it sounds, seeing as i have always gone for bright colours, i am looking forward to re-decorating my room.

My progress so far, you may ask? well being it was one bright yellow room, its going to take three coats. My arms already hurt, but I'm determined.

First coat...2 more to go!

My Memories

Flicking through some old photos i discovered one of the things i truly love...taking photos!
This love affair began in high school when i took up photography classes where we developed our own films and experimented with the camera. Going back to easter, 2010, are the photos i took of my time spent with the family at a block of land at Kapunda.

Enjoy the scenery and my memories.
